Hyundai Hope on Wheels Continues to Donate Money for Childrens Cancer Research

For the last 12 years, Hyundai Motor America and Edmond Hyundai have been committed to helping kids fight cancer through our efforts with Hyundai Hope on Wheels. 

On September 1, 2010, as part of the Hyundai Gives Hope on Wheels campaign, Hyundai Motor America presented Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children with a $100,000 grant for its hematology/oncology program. 

The funds will go toward the development of the Hyundai Hope Center, an on-site resource and activity center for patients and their families. 

The education center allows families the ability to access information and gain support, and their patients will be able to access the center at the bedside through an online support tool. Inova staff came up with the plans for the center based on input from patients and families. 

As September is childhood cancer awareness month, Hyundai Motor America’s Hope on Wheels will be giving money throughout the nation through the Hope on Wheels Tour. The Hope on Wheels Tour began in April and will end this month touring over 60 cities. 

Throughout September, “Hyundai Gives Hope on Wheels” will be working to raise awareness about childhood cancer and donating a total of $6.8 million dollars to organizations across the country. These donations are known as “Hope Grants” and will fund research as well as programs and organizations that provide patient and family education, psychological and emotional care resources. 

“On September 10, the Hyundai Gives Hope September visited the Batchelor Children’s Research Institute at the University of Miami, “ according to Hyundai Hope on Wheels. “The funds will be used to support their Survivorship Program which focuses on helping survivors cope with the cognitive symptoms that come post treatment.” 

Hyundai Hope on Wheels — $100,000 GrantBy the end of this year, Hope on Wheels will have donated $23 million dollars to children’s hospitals and organizations across the country since its founding in 1998.
