On the Road to a Cure – Hyundai Hope on Wheels

Hyundai is doing more than just creating top-rated vehicles. Hyundai along with Edmond Hyundai is helping clear the path to finding a cure for childhood cancer.

Hyundai Hope on Wheels is the united effort of Hyundai Motor America and over 800 dealers across the country to help kids in their fight against cancer. The people behind Hyundai Hope on Wheels are dedicated to promoting and supporting childhood cancer treatment research, increasing awareness about the disease and, equally as significant, recognizing and celebrating the strength and hope of the children and their families as they fight.

Hyundai dealers have been committed to helping in the fight against childhood cancer since 1998 when a handful of New England-based Hyundai dealers joined forces to raise money for the Jimmy Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. Those efforts evolved into Hyundai Hope on Wheels – now a nationwide organization – and more than $23 million has been donated to children’s hospitals across the nation since the organization’s foundation. Each time a new Hyundai vehicle is purchased in the U.S., Hope on Wheels receives a donation.

In 2010 alone, Hyundai Hope on Wheels visited 44 children’s hospitals and donated over $2 million to support training and research of doctors involved; those specially designated professionals are called Hyundai Scholars. The symbol of the 2010 tour is a white Hyundai Santa Fe covered with brightly colored handprints representing the courage of all the childhood cancer patients around the country. The handprint is
significant as no handprint is the same, and each one represents the personal triumphs of those children who fight against cancer.

At the New York International Auto Show in April, Hyundai Motor America announced plans to donate over $10 million toward the support of childhood cancer research through the Hyundai Hope on Wheels Program.

“At Hyundai, we thrive on new thinking and new possibilities, and Hope on Wheels supports doctors and hospitals doing just that – creating new
possibilities that could someday cure childhood cancer,” said John Krafcik, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor America. “We’re proud that
for 13 years, through year-end 2011, Hyundai and its dealers will have donated more than $34 million to the cause. Our goal is to support the
important research that will find a cure for pediatric cancer.”

Edmond Hyundai and committed Hyundai customers are offered a unique opportunity to be part of greater good. Hyundai Hope on Wheels is
working to give children with cancer the gift of a future. There is no greater gift.
