Frugal Drivers Watch Out For Hyundai’s New Goal For 50 MPG

Edmond Hyundai is excited about corporate plans! Hyundai announced its goal for the future: raising the gas mileage of the entire Hyundai lineup of vehicle to 50 miles per gallon by 2025.

CEO John Krafcik is the first executive to commit to a 50-mile-per-gallon lineup of cars and plans to achieve this goal by 2025.

According to the New York Times, Krafcik acknowledged that the goal was a stretch, but he said he was “very confident” the company could reach it.

“We don’t know precisely how to get there right now,” he said, speaking here at the center for Automotive Research’s Management Briefing Seminars according to the New York Times. “We do have a road map.”

So what would be making this drastic change in fuel economy? The internal-combustion engines would make up about 75-80 percent of the improvement along with hybrids and plug-in hybrids accounting for the 15-20 percent and electric vehicle the remaining 5 percent Mr. Krafcik said according to the Financial Times.

According to the financial times, Krafick said that “an important part of the puzzle” will be unveiled at the Los Angeles car show in November.
