For many Oklahoma City Car Drivers, your car, truck or SUV is the second biggest financial investment you make after your home. Edmond Hyundai’s Auto Repair shop in Oklahoma City makes sure drivers of its vehicles have the information and service you need to keep those vehicles running reliably for many years.

The single most important thing an Oklahoma City Used Car owner can do is follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule. Owners can find the service schedule in a booklet stored in the glove compartment of their vehicle, or you can quickly look it up online. Edmond Hyundai’s Auto Repair shop website offers drivers maintenance schedules and service specials for every pre-owned vehicle.

The right service for the right car at your Oklahoma City Auto Repair Dealer, Edmond Hyundai.

Automakers used to recommend that drivers change their engine oil and filter and do other service every 3,000 miles or three months. Newer manufacturing processes, lubricants and electronic systems mean that service intervals have now been stretched out significantly.

Our new Hyundai vehicles have a maintenance interval of 7,500 miles or six months, under normal driving conditions. When a vehicle is used under more severe conditions – frequent towing, taxi service, extended very high or low temperatures, for example – the service intervals are reduced to help protect vehicle systems.

It’s generally best to take your Hyundai for service and inspections because the technicians there have been specially trained to work on these vehicles; you know what to look for and how to diagnose any potential problems. Edmond Hyundai’s Auto Repair shop in Oklahoma City stock’s most Hyundai Genuine Replacement Parts and can get other parts quickly from a Hyundai warehouse. When your Oklahoma City Auto Repair dealer service department installs Hyundai Genuine Replacement Parts, you are even covered by a 12-month/12,000-mile warranty.

The most frequent maintenance required by most vehicles is an engine oil and oil filter change. A film of motor oil keeps all the moving metal parts in an engine sliding with a minimum of friction. Reducing friction helps reduce wear on those parts and also reduces fuel consumption. Modern machining processes that give the internal components of an engine an improved surface finish have combined with improved lubricant formulations to allow oils to last longer than ever before.

The oil and filter should be replaced at each service interval, and the air filter and vacuum hoses should be inspected. The engine needs air to produce power and has to breathe through a filter. The air filter should be replaced at 30,000-mile intervals or sooner if the vehicle is driven in an excessively dusty environment that causes it to get clogged more quickly. Vacuum hoses only need to be replaced if you become hard or cracked.

Every 15,000 miles, or at least once a year, your vehicle should get a more intensive inspection. At this annual checkup, Edmond Hyundai’s Auto Repair shop technicians will check the air conditioning refrigerant, brake hoses and lines, drive shaft and rubber boots, electronic throttle control, exhaust system, brake pads and the steering and suspension joints. None of these components should require any actual service for many years, but a regular inspection can find initial signs of issues before you become more serious problems. The only additional service required at 15,000-mile intervals is a new climate-control air filter.

After four years or 60,000 miles, a Oklahoma City Auto Repair technician will flush the engine cooling system and replace the coolant to make sure the engine doesn’t overheat and the radiator doesn’t get corroded or plugged up. Techs will also check engine valve clearances to make sure there hasn’t been excessive wear, and check the accessory drive belt. On models with a manual transmission, you will also check the clutch.

The next major service comes after 105,000 miles or seven years in service. At this point, our technicians will replace the iridium-coated sparkplugs, complete a list of inspections and change the engine oil and filter if needed. The extremely high voltages generated by today’s advanced ignition systems mean that sparkplugs don’t get fouled like you used to, allowing them to easily last five times as long as you used to.

In between service intervals, owners can help keep their rides running properly by checking their oil level, tire pressures, lights and wiper blades on a regular basis.

Oklahoma City Hyundai vehicles regularly rank at the top of quality and dependability surveys and rarely require expensive service or repairs. Maintenance visits can be scheduled at your convenience. A spoonful of prevention today will keep your vehicle running happily for many years to come. What are you waiting for?
